Sunday February 19, 2012 Weather

After a cold start (even colder than what I expected) today, conditions are expected to remain somewhat quiet for the next 24-36 hours. A weak high pressure ridge will slide in from the southwest tonight into Monday leading to partly cloudy skies. Our Monday will be the driest and quite possibly the best day of the next 7.

By Monday night, say bye-bye to the high pressure as another stronger low pressure system slides in from the northwest increasing our chances for not only clouds and showers but also some stronger winds.

A HIGH WIND WATCH has been posted for the western part of our viewing area (Silver Bow, Powell, and Deer Lodge counties) for Wednesday ahead of the next storm system to hit our area mid-week. This one will again keep us under the cooler northwesterly flow influence and a high chance for clouds and snow showers.

The stormy pattern continues all the way through my 7-day, as yet another storm system looks to move in for the weekend. While this storm is still almost a week out, it is a storm to keep an eye on. If I were a betting man (which if any of you know me, I am :) ) I would bet on at least enough snow next weekend to get the snow shovels out, and maybe even the snow blowers (though once again still several days out).

Regardless of the specifics, a much stronger cooler, and wetter pattern is setting up. Monday is the only dry day for us in the next 7. Skiers rejoice, winter has finally arrived!
